Senior year has just began and I’m glad to be back. I started my senior year at Sierra Pacific High School due to my parents separation; lately it’s been a little hard with the adjustment. My experience at the new school wasn’t what I had expected, from the staff members down to the students. Everyone from Lindsay High School are kind and friendly, as soon as I had the chance to come back I took advantage of it. Luckily I didn’t stay too long for it to affect my grades. At this point I am on pace to graduate and attend a four year university. All my hard work and dedication has been paying off. Although throughout the years I have fallen behind I manage to get everything completed no matter how long it takes. I’ve attended summer school, spring break, stayed after school and stayed up all night to complete my work. I learned from my mistakes which has made a major impact on my junior year. Allowing me to improve my GPA from a 3.0 to a 3.7. Since I’ve came back, my senior year has been amazing so far. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to experience senior sunrise. It was beautiful watching the sun slowly light up the sky with warm colors and slowly rise from behind the mountains. After my class watched the sun rise we all decided together and eat at Denny's. The best part so far was going to the football game to support our cheerleaders and football players. This year is going to hold up a lot of memories and some might be better than others but I’m looking forward to them. Such as, homecoming week, winter formal, prom, senior sunset and especially my senior exit exam. Recently, I have been working on my journals for my website. In my opinion creating a website of our high school experience is a good idea. It allows our family to see our success and our children later on in the future see how high school has evolved from where they are now in high school. Also many may think senior projects are a waste of time but they help seniors become prepared for the real world. It teaches how to be confident, professional, responsible and have a plan to be successful in life after high school. After high school my goal is to attend Arizona State University and study forensic criminology. My plan is to live with my sisters friend Crystal and get a part time job at a starbucks shop where she manages. I know my freshmen year will be challenging due to me being homesick and not being able to receive any benefits such as financial aid. For me to receive financial aid I need to be registered as a resident of the state for at least six months. That is why I have been saving up money to buy my materials to be successful my freshman year. The environment of learning will be totally different then what I am usually use to but I plan on recording class discussions and lectures. Take advantage of my professors openoffice days to clarify anything I didn’t understand about a topic. Also another helpful resource is reviewing my notes with a friend in my class allowing us to help each other. Last but not least I plan on being involved in the school and have a lot of school spirit allowing me to make many memorable memories. Journal Number 2Man a lot has changed since my last journal entry. I am no longer planning on attending Arizona State due to the same opportunities provided here in California. I’m deciding whether I want to attend CSU Sacramento, CSU Fresno, or CSU Stanislaus. All I know I have to make a decision quick because little by little graduation is creeping up. I am a little bit nervous for graduation only for the simple fact all my family and friends are looking forward to me waking down the football field to receive my high school diploma. As for the most part this only happens once and a life time. For me to graduate I am making sure all my classes are completed and I receive extra help on classes I fall behind in; for example, chemistry. First semester I did not pass chemistry but I am staying after school to make up for whatever I did not pass. For me to be done with first semester of chemistry I have to complete measurement topic two and three. Once I catch up on chemistry I look forward on buying my grand night tickets to go to Disney land with my class of 2017. So far as I look back on my senior year I am grateful to have wonderful learning facilitators who care for me and want to see me be successful in life. I’m truly happy to have wonderful relationships with my LF because they provide grate advice about college and about life. Journal Number 3Currently I am not on pace with all my classes. The only class I am behind in is chemistry, only needing 2 measurement topics to be on pace. My biggest struggle is trying to get all my class work and college requirements done at the same time. Right now I am in a pickle due to my family moving. When we first moved into my grandmother’s house my mother had all our important documents in the storage unit she was renting. At that time, we were tight on money and could not afford to pay for it and I was applying to colleges. My mother was not allowed to get anything from the storage unit until she had paid what she had owed. I was desperately needing my social security number. My mother contacted the high school and asked if they could give my mother my social security number. As a result, I was given my social security number but the last number was wrong. Now I have to contact all the colleges I have applied to change it. Another problem I am facing at the moment is not being able to open by Sacramento portal due to this problem. Making it stressful to know if I have been accepted or not. Other than that I have been accepted to CSU Fresno and CSU Stanislaus. Journal Number 4My senior year is coming to an end with only 2 more months to go until I graduate. It has not hit me yet but when my learning facilitators remind me it gives me a tingly feeling in my stomach. Then all the stuff that needs to be done comes to me and brings me anxiety. One thing I am surely looking forward to is my senior exit interview. For some reason I am not really that nervous about going in front of a group of people who I do not know and explaining my life and my experiences at the Lindsay High School. Matter a fact I find it interesting because they will not know anything about me and they are given the opportunity to see how I have grown into the person I am today. Also they are given a chance to see how high school has evolved since they were in high school.
